The rooms at Auberge Rozendal are situated between the vineyards with majestic mountain views of the Stellenbosch and Simonsberg mountains, providing an environment of beauty and tranquillity.

Guests are accommodated in simple elegance and comfort. Each room has both an en-suite bathroom and patio. The rooms have been decorated in European style with a South African touch – the walls of many decorated by works of well-known contemporary South African artists.

Relax at the pool or enjoy a leisurely walk or hike in the adjacent forests and mountains.

Auberge Rozendal’s environmental and health-conscious approach to life ensures clean air and pure water. No poisons are sprayed, while water is sourced from an underground stream and enhanced by a water catalyser imported from Plocher, Germany. Noise pollution/ electrosmog (ELF) is lessened by the absence of television sets and air-conditioning systems.

We are strongly focused on providing personalised attention to customer needs.

Our restaurant

situated in the homestead, offers a set menu consisting of dishes created using ingredients that are always seasonal, a large portion of which are taken straight from our bio-dynamic garden.


The cuisine can be described as fresh, creative and natural, making use of homegrown vegetables, fruits and herbs, as well as local products such as salmon trout and free-range duck breast. Meals may be enjoyed on the garden terrace and in the dining room. The menu is created daily, preceded by a glass of our own health-inspiring vinegar.

We are open to the public 7 days a week. For the restaurant, please follow the signs leading to reception where there is secure parking available.

 Auberge Rozendal has 16 en-suite Guesthouse rooms all with terraces. Our rooms are situated between the vineyards, with majestic views of Stellenbosch and Simonsberg mountains, as well as the Table Mountain in the distance, providing an environment of beauty and tranquility. The Guesthouse rooms are decorated in a European style with a South African touch. We also have a limited number of rooms created especially with the Family in mind, each with a unique decor and luxus bath amenities. Our guests can relax at the pool, enjoy a leisurely walk, hike or bike in the adjacent forests and mountains.

Our Restaurant is located in the 150 year old Manor House of Auberge Rozendal. The cuisine can be described as creative and natural with French Provencal roots. Our ingredients are always fresh, sourced from home-grown organic vegetables, fruits and herbs, as well as free-range farm eggs and milk. Other organic products are locally sourced, such as duck breast, venison and salmon trout. As a special treat, all of our three and four course set menus are introduced by an aperitif of our own internationally acclaimed Rozendal Drinking Vinegar. Meals are served either on the vine-covered veranda overlooking a tranquil lawn or in the dining room with its gallery of canvases by world famous local artists Paul Emsley, Cecil Skotnes and Larry Scully. During colder weather guests can enjoy the warmth and comfort of a roaring fireplace. Guests may partake of a full English breakfast year round. Reservations for Lunch and Dinner menus are essential.

Accommodation

The guestrooms of the Auberge Rozendal Wine Farm in the South African Stellenbosch are all comfortably equipped with a bathtub and an attached deck. The minimal and elegant design combines European comfort with African traditional styling. The works of contemporary African artists on the walls are particularly charming. From all of the rooms of the vineyard hotel you will have a fantastic view of the mountain range, the vineyard slopes and the gardens.

Auberge Rozendal is a family owned and run country inn with 16 en-suite guestrooms all with terraces. We are able to offer sports massage, facials, reflexology as well as lymph drainage and manicuring. Our trained professional, in the privacy of the treatment room, will ensure that you are pampered and well looked after.

Nature walks
At Auberge Rozendal we have nurtured the nature, we have large amounts of birds on our farm which can be observed whilst walking or just sitting at the dam.

In the adjoining forest and Jonkershoek Nature Reserve there are walks and hiking trails available for all levels of fitness. The main Jonkershoek nature reserve is 5 km from our farm. Walks to the waterfall are highly recommended.

Swimming
We have a large swimming pool for those that wish to swim, or just relax in one of the comfortable deckchairs.

Mountain biking
There are many classic mountain biking trails in our area. We would be able to arrange the hire of mountain bikes and advise you regarding trails.

Golf
There are several world class golf courses within a 40 km radius of Auberge Rozendal. We would be more than happy to book tee-off times as well as cart and club hire on your behalf.

Trout fishing
Both in Stellenbosch as well as in the neighbouring Idas Valley, trout fishing is available. Equipment can also be rented on site.

Horse Riding
Horseriding is available in the immediate area. We can help you to arrange an outride from beginner to advanced riders.

Wine tours
There are several excellent guides offering wine tours in the Stellenbosch and surrounding winelands. Tours range from half day to full day tours.

Day Trips

CAPE TOWN

Visit the "Mother City", the oldest city in South Africa which has a cultural heritage spanning more than 300 years.  Don´t miss a trip up Table Mountain.  Relax at the V&A Waterfront, a unique shopping and holiday experience on a scenic working harbor.  Explore Robben Island, the former home of Nelson Mandela.  And discover the City Centre with its historical buildings, museums, the Company Gardens, lively flea markets at Greenmarket Square, and souvenir shopping on Sundays at the native Green Point Market.  

CAPE PENINSULA NATURE RESERVE

The southern end of the Cape Peninsula boasts two points of interest really, the Cape of Good Hope and the more southerly and a bit higher situated Cape Point.  There are a number of drives, hiking trails and picnic areas in the reserve.  

KIRSTENBOSCH BOTANICAL GARDENS

At the foot of the famous Table Mountain in Cape Town, South Africa, is the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.  It is home to a magnificent collection of over 5000 species that are indigenous to South Africa, and the land covers a staggering 528 hectares.

HERMANUS

The seaside resort of Hermanus in Walker Bay offers you some of the best whale viewing from land in the world.  A cliff path stretching from one side of the town to the other, hugs the coastline for about 12 km, giving whale watchers unlimited opportunities to study the gentle giants in the coves below or lolling just beyond the breakers.  The whales start arriving in May in order to calve and to mate in the shallow water.  Peak time for whales at any one time is October, but many can still be seen in November, tailing off in December.  Boat-based whale watching is also available in Hermanus.  

BOULDERS BEACH

Boulders Penguin Colony is home to a growing colony of the vulnerable African Penguin.  Wooden walkways allow you to view the penguins in their natural habitat. Boulders Beach is also worth a stop for safe and enjoyable swimming.  Combine a trip to see the penguins with a few hours on Boulders Beach, or a few hours in the quaint and historical town of Simon's Town.

WEST COAST NATIONAL PARK

Just inland from the secluded harbor of Saldanha Bay you find the azure waters of the Langebaan Lagoon, focal point of the West Coast National Park. Thousands of seabirds roost on sheltered islands, pristine golden beaches stretch endlessly into the early morning mist, and brooding salt marshes are home to vast concentrations of migrant waders from the northern hemisphere.  During the spring the strandveld is embroidered with a tapestry of multi-hued flowers, while in the Postberg section many antelope are to be seen in a setting that is as unique as it is idyllic.  

BIG FIVE SAFARI

Spend the day at a Private Game Reserve and you will come across some of the Big Five.  Set out on a game safari in open-vehicle and spot wildlife such as lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino, besides giraffe, wildebeest and zebra. The vast natural game reserve is situated only about 1 hour by car from Stellenbosch.

Experience the Cape Winelands by Mountain Bike.  Bikescan be hired in Stellenbosch or book a guided Mountain Bike Tour. 

FLY FISHING

Fly fish, or learn to fly fish, for excellent quality large rainbow trout in the scenic Jonkershoek valley of Stellenbosch.  Nestled high in the picturesque Jonkershoek valley the fly fishery dams offer superb fly fishing. 

CHEETAHS

Visit a group of hand-raised cheetahs in the care of the Cheetah Outreach Program. Learn more about these animals - You can even enter the enclosures for a closer encounter with these wonderful animals. 

MONKEY TOWN

A center that provides refuge and rehabilitation for rescued primates in natural environments.  You walk through enclosed walkways inside the monkey enclosures. Some of the tame monkeys may be touched and interacted with. 

BUTTERFLY WORLD

Visit the large free flying park for butterflies.  You walk through a large enclosed landscaped tropical garden filled with free flying butterflies and exotic birds. 

BOTANICAL GARDENS

Enjoy these gardens which contain indigenous and exotic plants, from Amazon water-plants, orchids and lilies, to bonsai, herb and desert plants, some of them extremely rare. 

STELLENBOSCH VILLAGE MUSEUM

The Stellenbosch Village Museum is a group of four carefully restored and furnished buildings representing the major stylistic periods of the previous three centuries. Here you can move through these time periods in a matter of minutes, experiencing fascinating architecture, and getting a glimpse of life in the early development of the Cape.  

HOT AIR BALLOONING

Enjoy an early morning balloon flight over the Berg River Valley. Available daily between November & April.

CAPE CLASSIC

Cape Classic is a set of live classical music concerts which facilitate a cultural exchange between South Africa and Europe, offering a wide range of European classical chamber-, piano- and vocal music performed by artists with a magical appeal.  These performances take place each February/March, when the famous Cape grapes are harvested.  Many of the concerts take place in the wonderful historic setting of wine estates.  Some participating vineyards have been Vergelegen (Somerset West), Blaauwklippen (Stellenbosch), and Nederburg (Paarl).  Other venues have included the open air amphitheater of Oude Libertas (Stellenbosch), Fismer Hall (Stellenbosch), and Moederkerk (Swellendam).  Cape Classic is a charity event whose surplus revenues are used to support social relief projects in the Cape region
