Hog Hollow Country LodgeHog Hollow Country Lodge Hotel / Lodge accommodation in Plettenberg Bay Western CapeLocation: South Africa » Western Cape » Garden Route » Tsitsikamma » Plettenberg Bay » The CragsDescriptionHog Hollow is a 4-star lodge set on the edge of an indigenous forest in a private nature reserve with panoramic views of the surrounding indigenous forests, valleys and mountains, in one of the most beautiful parts of Africa - the Garden Route. Our 16 suites all have private decks overlooking these vistas and offer guests relaxed luxury in an unforgettable setting. King size beds, earthy tones, fireplaces, hammocks and hand-crafted artifacts are just a few of the comfortable touches that welcome guests to their private retreat. Guests sleep comfortably in crisp linen and each night there is a special turndown. On chilly winter nights, we slip a hot water bottle between the sheets just in case the cosy fireplace isn’t enough. Rooms are fitted with mini bars and mini hi-fis but no televisions or telephones. The Main House forms a communal dining area leading down to a long blue swimming pool that visually flows into the valley below and a boma deck where nightly fires are lit. Other attractions include a forest sauna and privately sited forest shower with incredible views over the valley. Expect outstanding cuisine, numerous activities to suit each guests need, and truly memorable hospitality from our team. For the adventurous, the lodge is the perfect base from which to explore and experience numerous adventure activities. We are renowned for our personalised service and assist you with the planning and booking of daily excursions. Hog Hollow is well known for its delectable food. On crisp clear days farmhouse breakfasts are served on the wooden deck overlooking the forest or near the huge fireplace when it’s cooler. In the evenings, guests enjoy scrumptious dinners around the communal table in the candle-lit atmosphere of the main house. Meals are prepared using only the freshest of local produce. The set menu includes a selection of main course of which fish, prawns and crayfish are daily features. Guests with specific dietary requirements are catered for individually. Children are catered for with special mealtimes and menus. All guests cars are washed daily with the compliments of Hog Hollow. Hog Hollow welcomes children. We organise babysitting, special turn downs with a glass of fresh milk and a Gingerbread Man, children's stories and CDs, buckets and spades, boogie boards and cater for special menus and meal times. Please note: we are set on the edge of a gorge so our landscape profile is very steep. We also have unfenced dams and an unfenced pool on the premises, so parents are kindly requested to accompany their children at all times when around these areas. Hog Hollow is closed for the month of June. However, we are open for reservations all year round! St Francis Bay has become a golden haven to travellers and settlers since it's western discovery by those intrepid Portuguese sailors in 1575!
This small coastal village - known pertly as "Little Venice in the Cape" belies its sleepiness with a host of great outdoor activities - surfing is one, with the famous Bruce's Beauties enough to keep any enthusiast out for hours, golden sand, warm waters, safe paddling spots, fishing, swimming, golf, walks galore, and a whole host of water activities make this a fantastic holiday spot.
Set back from the bustle of the town is Sea Serpent House - a self-catering house overlooking the nature reserve and sweeping views of the Indian Ocean and the historic lighthouse. This fully kitted house, which is serviced daily, accommodates four adults and two children comfortably with all the additional comforts of home. There are numerous restaurants in the area and Port St Francis just a walk away.
Overlooking the Matjies River Gorge, this congenial hub is where it all happens.
Kick off your shoes, grab a icy drink from the bar and relax. There are three lounge areas to escape to with a book, a pair of binoculars, or just your thoughts. The pool lounge leads out onto cool blue waters where you may find others lazing about on comfi recliners. The reading room offers a quiet haven and a leafy vista of the indigenous forest valley and Tsitsikama Mountains. If you're a bird lover we advise you to head straight for the Ficus lounge where an ancient fruit-laden tree is a favourite with Plett's prolific bird community.
At the centre of the Main House is our famously large dining room table where guests can plan their daily activities over breakfast and unwind in the evening around a candle-lit table laden with gourmet delights.
The Boma is a place for festive occasions and the day's end where guests can kick back on a pile of comfy cushions, a fire crackling nearby, and their favourite night cap in hand.
