On a clear day there are views of Stellenbosch, Gordon’s Bay, Seal Island and Cape Hangklip. The house is a 2-minute walk from Fisherman's Beach (which has good boogie boarding or sea kayaking, depending on sea conditions) and a 20-minute walk from the world famous penguins.

Accommodation

The house is a 2-minute walk from Fisherman's Beach (which has good boogie boarding or sea kayaking, depending on sea conditions) and a 20-minute walk from the world famous penguins.

The upper floor of the house consists of three bedrooms (two doubles and one twin) each leading out onto a sea-facing patio. The main bedroom with bathroom en-suite (bath and shower) has a queen size double bed, desk, two comfortable armchairs, bedside lamps and a large dressing room.

The second bedroom with double bed has a built in cupboard, chest of drawers and bedside lamps. The third bedroom with two single beds has two built in cupboards, a comfortable armchair and bedside lamps. A second bathroom, also with bath and shower, serves the second and third bedrooms.

The sea-facing patio area serving all bedrooms has exquisite views (best views in the house, especially with a cup of coffee in hand early in the morning) while the entire upper floor area is carpeted with underfloor heating.

Attractions

• There are a variety of beaches to choose from, including beaches with quieter rock pools and lagoons for children. Exploring the rocks and boulders strewn along the coastline is a wonderfully rewarding activity. The following beaches range from 200m to 2 km from Felsensicht: Fisherman’s Beach, Windmill Beach, Boulders Penguin Beach (only 800m away), Foxy Beach, Water’s Edge and Seaforth Beach. Long Beach, Simon’s Town, is 4 km from Felsensicht.

• Cape Point Nature reserve is only 10 km away - a short drive or an easy cycle. • Whale watching – best in October/November. • Penguin viewing at the Boulders Beach National Park.

• Excellent choice of restaurants within walking and /or driving distance including The Meeting Place, Bertha’s, The Salty Sea Dog, Bon Appétit (highly recommended) and, 2½ km from our home towards the south, The Black Marlin.

• Simon’s Town Country Club with Squash, Golf and Bowls is only 800m away. • Deep sea fishing trips can be arranged or one can enjoy fishing off the rocks in front of the house or a little further afield in the Cape Point Nature Reserve. • Scuba diving is available through Scuba Shack in Kommetije, (tel. 021 -785-6742). • Bird watching is possible from boats going out to sea (Anne Gray on 083-311-1140) or at various vleis and dams, eg. Rondevlei, Seekoeivlei or Strandfontein Sewerage Works which are all easily accessible by car.

• Simon’s Town itself has many attractions, including a number of historic museums, the SA Naval Base, Yacht Club, quaint shops including bric a brac, arts and crafts, clothing and souvenir shops.

Facilities

• Fully equipped kitchen with glass top stove, oven, microwave oven, fridge/freezer and additional fridge/freezer in downstairs area.  All kitchen appliances (toaster, kettle, toasted sandwich maker, coffee machine etc) are provided.

• The scullery is equipped with washing machine, dishwasher and tumble dryer.  Ironing board and iron are provided.

• We provide all linen and towels, including beach towels.  We offer a complimentary cleaning service once a week. 

• Satellite TV can be viewed on our large flat screen HD TV.  Internet hotspots have been installed • throughout the house allowing access to Wireless Internet. For this, guests need to purchase credits online.

• We have an open fireplace as well as underfloor heating for those cool Cape winter evenings.

• Our patio is ideal for al fresco dining with seating for 8 persons.  The view of False Bay, with a full 180 degree panorama, is exquisite.

• We provide a cot for children under the age of 2.

• Guest toiletry packs are provided for guests on arrival as well as a bottle of excellent quality Cape red wine.

• We have a guest safe to ensure that your valuables, cards, jewellery, wallets etc are kept secure.

• Our alarm is connected to a security company which ensures the safety and security of our guests.

• For the beach, we have umbrellas, chairs and boogie boards available for your use.  Our nearest beach, Fisherman's Beach, is only a 2 minute walk away from Felsensicht.

• The Simon's Town Naval and Toy Museums are only 3 km from our home in the centre of town.  Here you will also find the attractive harbour (boat and canoe trips available) and Simon's Town waterfront with interesting shops & numerous restaurants of excellent quality serving a wide variety of cuisine.
